Hold a .eu domain name?
Posted on 4th March 2019 at 16:48
Due to Britain’s exit from the European Union, you may no longer be eligible to hold a .eu domain name.
If the UK leaves the EU without a deal on 30th March 2019, these changes will come into effect immediately. This will mean that UK customers will no longer be eligible to register new .eu domain names from this date, and those with existing .eu web addresses will need to move to new domains that comply with EU rules.
Domains will remain live on .eu web addresses until 30th May 2019. After this transitional period, non-compliant domains will be withdrawn. This means that your website and email addresses will no longer function on these domains.
If you have an existing .eu domain name, we therefore recommend moving to a non .eu web address as soon as possible to minimise any potential inconvenience for both your business and your customers.
If the UK leaves the EU following a planned transition period, these changes will come into effect at a later date.
If your it’seeze website is currently registered with a .eu domain, please contact our Head Office support team to enquire about changing this.
